Astroboy Reboot WIP Annecy

First-time poster anywhere, I am usually just a lurker.
I speak English and used the interpreter that they offered in the room.
I am at the annecy festival this year. I just wanted to discuss and kinda rant about what others think of the
Astroboy WIP reboot.
Astroboys Background
I understand that this reboot was made intended for younger audiences. But I feel kinda sad that they are intending to change his backstory. And I'm not really happy that they said it was "trashy." ( it was in french, but that is what the interpreter said in English) I like when animators and directors try and cover difficult and dark topics. I do hope they stay true to the original. Or at least not change it too much. They did not mention what his backstory is now but did mention it was changing.
Transformation sequence
I know they said it was still WIP. I do hope that they change it. It looks too much like 'miraculous ladybug' magical girl transformation. I would love to see a more robotic transformation with moving parts. Not just a line that runs up the body.
I think the glowing eyes were cool before the transformation.
Secret identity
I really dont have much to say, but it has been overdone a lot, I guess.
Love interest
They said that one of Atom's best friends, Sicilla (sorry if I spelt it wrong), is going to be Atom' interest. But she is not interested in him?
Atom is a little boy. Can they not just be friends. Why does it have to be a thing.
