Successful ILR via Skilled Worker Route

Hi all,

I have recently submitted my ILR application under the Skilled Worker route using the priority service and wanted to share my timeline and document checklist in case it helps others in a similar situation.

Timeline

  • Entered the UK in January 2019 as a dependant visa holder
  • Started full-time employment in January 2020
  • First Skilled Worker visa granted in April 2021 from Company A
  • Second Skilled Worker visa granted in April 2023 from Company B
  • Continuously employed until redundancy in November 2025
  • Secured a new sponsored role with company C and joined current employer in March 2026
  • Submitted ILR application in May 11 2026.
  • Received decision in May 13 2026

I was slightly concerned because:

  • I changed sponsors shortly before ILR
  • I only had one recent payslip from the new employer
  • I had periods of remote work while abroad
  • 4 months Gap in my employment.(No curtailment notice)

However, after reviewing the guidance carefully, I proceeded with the application.

Documents Submitted

  • Current passport + previous passports (Need to scan and upload)
  • BRP / eVisa
  • Current Employer reference letter confirming:
    • SOC code
    • salary
    • ongoing employment
    • required for foreseeable future
    • no unpaid leave
  • Latest payslip
  • Recent Bank statement showing salary credit
  • Signed consent form
  • Previous employer absence confirmation letters
  • eVisa & share code

 Absences

My absences included:

  • annual leave
  • family visits
  • holidays
  • limited remote work periods with employer approval

Total absences were comfortably within the 180-day continuous residence limits.

Hope this helps someone going through a similar ILR process. Happy to answer questions based on my experience.
