How to fit moisturiser into routine?
Hi all - hoping for some advice. I’m 34 and really struggled with acne throughout my 20s, had some great results with duac gel though in the past.
I’ve not been using any actives for about 6 years due to back to back pregnancies/breastfeeding. My routine during that time was very simple:
Morning: Dove soap, hypochlorous acid spray, beauty of Joseon SPF
Night: cleansing balm to remove any makeup, dove soap, hypochlorous acid spray, plenty of moisturiser at night
My skin actually did really well during that time and I enjoyed the “less is more” approach.
But now that I’ve stopped breastfeeding, I’m breaking out a lot more again (especially close to my period) and getting lots of closed comedones that never seem to go away, especially on my forehead.
I’ve started using Duac again this week but I’m already missing the dose of moisturiser I used to get at night. I feel like my skin is getting drier and more fine lines as I get older as it is.
It says to apply Duac to clean, dry skin so I don’t use any moisturiser at night - don’t want to apply it prior to Duac, and don’t want to put it on after in case it just wipes it off.
In the morning the beauty of joseon sunscreen FEELS moisturising, and a derm once told me using any products prior to sunscreen really dilutes its effects.
Now I’m at a point where I have NO moisturiser in my routine and it feels….wrong. I like the idea of the “sandwich” method for tretinoin to target the acne (and the anti aging effects!!) but I’m terrified of the purge and am convinced I’d just never stop purging! Never used retinoids before.
Any advice is very appreciated!!
