Ended up buying a small rough leaf dogwood sapling on impulse at the native plant nursery because it said it was good for boggy areas. Further research at home revealed they can be unpopular yard trees due to smell, fly pollination, and aggressive spreading.

Anyone planted one and can weigh in? (The spot in my yard I was wanting it for collects standing water after rains and is under some power lines so I can’t go bigger.)
