Why do so many actors use the European-style method of dining during dinner scenes?

I’m talking about holding the fork in their left hand and knife in the right hand and then taking a piece of food up to their mouth with the fork upside down. This is referred to as the European style of using utensils and I’m pretty sure I have never actually seen anyone eat like this in real life. But if you pay attention, you will notice that a lot of actors eat like this in dinner and lunch scenes. Is this something actors are taught or they just think it looks more sophisticated? Sometimes it takes me out of a movie when an American character who has no reason to eat like this does so.

Anytime someone asks about the best shows on Netflix or shows that didn’t deserve to be canceled, one of the top answers is always Mindhunter.

While season 1 was pretty good, it never really knew where it was going. But you think: hey maybe season 2 will find a direction and tie everything together. Maybe they will explain why they keep doing these BTK snippets that don’t tie into the story at all. But they don’t. The Atlanta storyline is a letdown and the writers never figure out where they are going with all this. The writers were just banking on the true crime craze that was peaking at the time and the nonsensical plot of the show is basically “how many serial killers can we jam into one show.” It deserved to be canceled. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
