Ball Cage.

SOLVED by r/bastl73. Thanks people!

Hello! 👋 TLDR: How would you make a cage for the balls? I need something that has a constant thickness for punched sheet metal fabrication like the second image.

Doing some practice - I want to make a cage to restrain my balls (that is the only reason I decided to make this part). However, a Part Design body that would do this job is cheating: I want to pretend I am the Big Cheese manufacturing this cage out of stamped sheet metal. I've included an image of what I mean (the second image); all of the things that look like corners actually aren't. Fillets don't achieve this because the centroids of them don't line up unless they are the same fillet. The normals both sides of the sheet must be parallel, and the thickness between them must be constant.

Using a stick to center workpiece on faceplate?

Hello all! 👋

I am watching some of Clickspring's top-noch videos on watchmaking. In this video, he is making a DTI. The pair of screenshots are from a scene where he is centering a brass "bridge" on a watchmaker's faceplate for lathework. Now, I understand how the stick would work, but what I don't understand is why he would not just use the tailstock to center the workpiece, then tighten down the clamps?

The video and time in question.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Bend a sketch + pocket along normals?

Hello! 👋

I've gotten bored of Blender so I decided to have a crack at FreeCad. Seems to be going pretty well.

So, I have a sketch here (just an inset of some external geometry). I want to etch out a cavity like I have elsewhere on my model (see 2nd image) for some more style points. However, I have no idea how to do this. I have seen a video of using a loft to add a profile on non-planar surfaces, however that wouldn't work here because I don't have a constant profile. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
