What a place!

Thank you for having us! So grateful to call your beautiful stretch of the world home for a week this summer. From Bishop to Bridgeport with an emphasis on the high country in Yosemite! Endless amounts of visual dopamine from the high desert terrain, awesome geological features, beautiful mountain and valley views, meadows, and glacial & alpine lakes. The granite and cool rocks were a dream too. Hope to make it back someday!

Road trip up Highway 395 and the Tioga road.

From Bishop to Bridgeport with an emphasis on the high country in Yosemite! I am so glad I got to see this stretch of natural beauty. High desert terrain, awesome geological features, striking Mountain and valley views, beautiful meadows, endless glacial & alpine lakes. Oh, and I can’t forget the granite & all the other cool a$$ rocks. Such a dream. Only complaint: the dust. But I guess I find that charming too in its absence. Until we meet again, pictures will have to do! ✌️💚🌎

Eastern sierra trip along 395

Hi sierra sub!
Fave part of sierra- well from pictures, I cannot wait to see convict lake!

My partner and I have been looking forward to our eastern sierra trip for quite some time! We can’t wait to see your beautiful piece of this planet and explore all the lakes and sierra views. We have an early August trip planned along Highway 395, starting around Lone Pine and making our way north to Bridgeport with lots of stops in between.

We’ve been closely following updates from the Forest Service, Cal Fire, Inyo National Forest, and other local agencies regarding the recent fires and know that conditions can change quickly. Thinking about all of you who are affected by this and hoping you are staying safe.

I was hoping to hear from people who are currently in the area. How are conditions along 395 right now? How has the smoke been day to day? Are there any areas where you would currently avoid? Thinking around bishop /big pine?

While it’s impossible to know what next week will look like, we would just appreciate hearing what it’s like right now from people on the ground while we monitor updates online.
Thank you for taking time to read this and for any feedback you have! 💙🌎

Camping

Hello Sierra sub! Looking for some expertise on an upcoming early August trip down your beautiful scenic Highway 395. My partner and I will be car camping, coming from Vegas. We plan to mix in a motel in Lone Pine, as it will be quite hot to camp. Other than that, we are thinking of taking advantage of all the great dispersed camping at some higher elevations.
Is this a safe bet for things to be open this time of year, or should we also book some campsites as a backup? We were initially going to try for 2 nights in the park when they release tickets, but that is not a guarantee.
When dispersed camping without bear bins, what extra precautions do you put in place for these areas? (Mammoth, Lee Vining, Bridgeport, June Lake, Convict Lake—general areas.) We are aware of all the basics, and we will not have anything scented in the tent. We also have a bear canister for toiletry-type items.
What about for our cooler? What is the protocol for something like this on BLM land? Am I being too paranoid about this? I’ve read the anecdotes of keeping them in a car and this is what worries me.
Appreciate any insight, tips, or just fun stories of your beautiful part of this earth!

Death Valley lovers, help me out!

Been wanting to visit Death Valley for a while but haven’t made it that way yet. At the end of July my partner and I are doing an eastern sierra road trip from Vegas. Since the route basically takes you through Death Valley, our plan is to drive through and maybe get out for some viewpoints? Are we crazy? Is it that hot this time of year to avoid even doing small stuff like that? We did do Joshua tree in August and just drove through and did lookouts. While we will miss the hiking this trip, it seems to help give us a feel for the park and what we want to do when we go back at a better time of year. Any tips of things to see from the car or if we are just plain crazy are greatly appreciated! Happy traveling!! 🌏

Southern Utah never disappoints!

Spent the final days of May road tripping between Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante, and Capitol Reef and a quick stop through Fishlake. Wish I had endless time to explore this area but here are some highlights. Grateful to explore places like this and connect with the earth! 🌍💚
