Worried that snowstrippers has sold out & faking streams
Basically the title.
First of all I don't believe they have over 5 million monthly listeners. The first screenshot was taken, today, while the second one was on the Wayback Machine from November 28th. According to mystreamcount.com they had a peak streaming week for Under Your Spell that weak, and it mostly only declined from there going from 4.5 million EOY 2024 to roughly 2.5 million per week now. All this to say that it is highly unlikely their monthly listener count is still being bolstered by a top song. I use Under Your Spell as a point of comparison here since typically artists with bloated monthly listeners can be attributed to 1 big song, but Under Your Spell isn't THAT big, and is slowing down. (mystreamcount also says "daily" where it should say "weekly".)
artist.tools puts them in only 10 high risk playlists and only attributes 400k monthly listeners to coming from playlists, which is not nearly enough to account for the 2 million + monthly listeners that seem to have appeared out of thin air.
Not to mention the 5oltero shit. (Idrk anything about that but people hear seem to think it's a sign of the end times.)
Last but not least, since this may be the nail in the coffin. (But could also be a good thing.) All the music released under the snow spotify account was credited to Atlantic. This could mean a lot of different things. Maybe they sold out ot Atlantic. Maybe they got stuck in a bad deal with Atlantic and are trying to leave it. Maybe Atlantic shelved them and is boosting their streaming numbers.
Either way, it's cool to see them still doing shows with Surf Gang. Would love to hear other people's thoughts.
