Dad just got diagnosed with Stage 4 - Should I fly home?

Hey all,

It's been a few days since the diagnosis came in. He had some routine bloodwork come back with some abnormalities. Got a liver biopsy and found out it was stage 4 cirrhosis. He said he hasn't felt any different, and, aside from dropping some weight, he hasn't shown any symptoms that I know of. My mom is in denial, wavering in one conversation from "there's nothing wrong with him" to "I would give up everything to save him." They should be contacting the doctor today.

I live on the other side of the country, and I want to go back to be with them, but without a follow-up doc's appointment, I don't even know what I could be doing to help. Talked with my mom and I think me going home would make it "real" in a way that she's not ready for.

Knowing what you all know about this disease, would it be better to go home sooner rather than later? Or should I wait until they have a treatment plan? I can only really afford one trip home this year, so I want to go when I can have the most impact.
