Looking for mentorship opportunities, looking to break into big tech. 4yoe Java Dev

hi guys, I’m a Java/backend with four years of experience currently working at a large multinational company in London. However, I would like to break into big tech or maybe some US companies and really expand my knowledge (and paycheck to be honest).

firstly, I’m looking for a mentor with more years of experience than me and who can guide me on what kind of actions to take towards finding a better position.

Secondly, I’m open to mentor maybe new grads and help with some of the things that helped me when I was starting out.

UK Java engineer 4 YOE, just looking for people to connect with and maybe join the project

hey there, I’m a Java engineer in the UK a lot of the stuff I do is with spring boot my stack generally contains using a lot of Kafka Kubernetes docker Java AWS Spring boot etc.

I’m not looking for a study buddy or anything in particular I just want to meet people in communities which are technical and founders. I’m involved in a lot of different things. I just think a lot of my skills could be used for good.

I have an offer from a large consultancy for a pay bump but unsure whether to take it.

Currently I work at a large UK company, the stack is good, the team is ok. This is my first job now I have 4 YOE. The only problem is I am stuck at ~50k. They are unlikely to push me for promo or even a pay rise for at least a year, this is due to budgeting in the team and just general politics.

I have an offer from a very large global IT consultancy and they are offering me a £20k pay bump + benefits. It will be something new and exciting and I'm ready to take the risk. I'm just afraid of not being able to move back into a product side company afterwards.

Has anyone had a similar experience of moving to a consultancy and back into a product role?
