I really, really struggle with my PCOS belly. It’s my biggest insecurity and it’s something I’ve been dealing with since I was 14 years old (now late 30s). This is despite being on Metformin, doing strength training 4 days a week, and being toned and skinny everywhere else. I also deal with very bad vulvodynia. My period is over 10 days late due to stress and grief, and I’m in a bad pain flare up. Today, I was asked if I have a baby on the way by a relative during my grandmas funeral. There is zero chance that I’m pregnant. I am single as single can be a long for a partner and to be a mom. It didn’t help that my mom overheard, and she and I have been getting into huge, ugly, heartbreaking fights about my belly since I was a teenager. I’ve tried everything and been to multiple doctors who just gaslight me and tell me I look fine or there is nothing they can do. One ob gyn even crossed professional boundaries and was inappropriate, which weighs on me (no pun intended) every day. Sometimes life sucks. I’m tired.
After years of trying to work my way up to 1500 mg of IR (regular) metformin, I gave up and asked my doctor to prescribe ER (Glumetza) instead. I’m tolerating it sooo much better. I’ve been on 1000 mg for a week and will look to increase to 1500 mg soon. Those of you who made the jump from 1000 to 1500 mg, what main differences did you see?
