Why Edelgard's Adrestia is actually an allegory for Putin's Russia.
Before you kill me in the comments, hear me out. I think I have solid evidence of similarities between Edelgard von Hresvelg and Vladimir Putin:
-Heraldry: Both the Adrestian Empire and the Russian Federation feature a double headed eagle on their coat of arms.
-Colour Scheme: Adrestia is red which represents USSR who were succeeded by Russia. Russian forces in Ukraine also make use of red tape on their uniforms.
-Cassus Belli: One of Edelgard's reasons for declaring war is that Faerghus and Leicester used to be Adrestian territory, Russia frequently uses a similar argument in regards to Crimea and the rest of Ukraine. Another argument is that she's "freeing Fodlan from the influence of the Church", which is kinda like Russia's "Denazification" if you think about it.
-Use of proxies: The Adrestians use Faerghan proxies in the form of Cornelia and her regime in western Faerghus, similar to how Russia uses Luhansk and Donetsk.
-Plausable Deniability: During the battle in Seiros' tomb, the Imperial forces are labelled as "Flame Emperor Soldiers" to create plausable deniability for Adrestia, similar to how Russia used its "Little Green Men" during the 2014 invasion of Crimea.
-Use of ethnic minorities as soldiers: We see Edelgard use Petra, who is from Brigid, similarly Russia conscripts their minorities (Buryats, Yakuts, Chechens etc.)
-Use of mercenaries: Edelgard uses Byleth, who is a mercenary, similar to the Wagner Group.
-And finally... both Edelgard and Putin are short.
