Here are some tips for getting cheap food in Aguas Calientes

You can buy food by eating where the locals eat. There are some food stands by the soccer field and yesterday I got a cheeseburger with fries for 13 soles. I also got some grilled beef on a stick for 5 soles for dinner. It was so delicious.

There is also like a cafeteria above the produce market (Mercado Aguas Calientes) You have to go to the third floor. Make sure you pick a place that has lots of people sitting there and the food is being made fresh and hot in front of you.

My friend got rice, schnitzel, soup, and it came with fries and salad for 13 soles. This was for lunch. They said the food was really delicious. They didn't eat the fries cause rhey were cold, and they didn't eat the salad (worried about uncooked food).

So you don't have to buy the expensive touristy foods. Sometimes those tourist restaurants will mark up the price if they see the hotel you come out of.

It's also cheaper to buy the big bottles of water, like the 2.5 liter ones and use it to refill your water bottles than buying the 1 to 2 liter one.

Ticket updates for the 20th

I got to AC on the 17th around 5pm. I had tried to change my ticket with Peru rail to earlier but I wasn't able to. By the time I got there, tickets were completely sold out for the 19th as expected. I went to line up amd waited about 30-35 min in line. Got a ticket for circuit 2 at 7am on the 20th. At that time there were still lots of tickets left for the 20th. I went later after they had closed, and this was the current status. I feel like if you get to AC really early in the morning you can get tickets for 2 days after arrival instead of 3, so if you get there on the 18th, you could get tickets for the 20th

Can someone please explain the new ticket system in Machu picchu

I am coming in next week. My train gets to AC late in the evening so I was planning on going to line up at 3am the next day for tickets for the following day.

It seems like there is a new system by all these posts and the lines are very long. It also seems like there is a lot of disorganization. Can anyone please explain the new system as well as any tips you may have?

I am so stressed now that I may not get a ticket

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I land in Cusco around 10am and I have accommodation booked in Ollantaytambo for the same day.

What is the best way to get from the Cusco airport to Ollantaytambo? I will have one heavy suitcase.

I found some options on Google:

Peruways - I think it is a bus

Aeroexpress which is a private shuttle

And some private cars on bookaway

Does anyone have any experience with these? Which do you recommend?

Thanks
