"This meeting room is ours now"
I've often asked myself reading posts here whether I'd meet one in the wild... and now I did. I work for a large company and our group (distributed geographically) had our annual face-to face meeting at the HQ. For that, the manager reserved a 20-seats conference room for a day (9-5).
Enter Entitled Manager who at 2 PM walks in and says they have a reservation so we need to leave. This was most surprising seeing as we had the room reserved for the day weeks in advance. He kept insisting they have the room reserved without showing any evidence for it beyond "we always have our weekly meetings here". You'd think he'd leave once we showed him the room in the reservation system and all - he just won't budge.
We've been through a number of hypotheses (honest mistake by our manager who confused timezones? No. Does the infamous MS Teams have a bug and double-booked the room? No.) before realizing the simple truth that Entitled Manager was counting on bullying us out of the room. He must have done this a number of times and that worked for him on account of people being nonconfrontational or not wanting to get on his bad side as he might have some power.
It took us some 15 minutes and a walk to a facilities manager just to get the asshole to leave.
(Love him or hate him, I think most would agree that's Trump's way of doing things too. He'd bluster somewhere and make ridiculous unreasonable demands until he gets something. The problem is it works too often and some even admire that style. Worst thing you can do with these bullys is give them power.)
