Yeah, that happened.

So make this make sense.

I notified a nurse that her residents colostomy bag came off. (He likes to mess with it for whatever reason and it constantly is coming off.) I guess this time it was actually slightly messy and had gotten on his gown and on his sheet. The nurse came back from changing the bag saying, “I took care of him thank you.” Just to be approached an hour and a half later with the same nurse asking me why I never cleaned up said resident. For one I didn’t know he was a mess, and for 2 why didn’t she just change the gown and top sheet while she was in there?? I don’t get it?? It was a quick and simple fix that I was under the impression he was good to go and taken care of. So now I feel stupid and embarrassed that he laid there for that long with bm all over him.

Idk I’m annoyed that she gave me the impression he was cleaned up and good, then came back later to tell me he wasn’t.

CNA-in Training Classes

I live in Indiana, my bf has been wanting and trying to get into a cna program through some facilities because they’re free and offer a job spot right away. He’s been having problems getting into one as they fill up fast and that leads me to my next point.

We found another facility that hadn’t been filled yet that was advertising free classes. Until he got a text message saying how there’s no guaranteed job after completion unless the instructor thinks you’re fit and how actually $2,000 is due upfront 90 days after the class is over. The $2,000 covers clinicals, class tests, state tests and so on.

I guess my basic question is, why does it seem like this place is trying to screw people around that truly don’t have the funding for something like this and that really want to get their foot in the door?? We can’t afford for a college CNA program because that’s also almost $2,000 up front even with financial aid in place. Other facilities actually do it for free you just have to work there for 6-12 months etc.

Anything welcome :)

I’ve had a couple of accounts and I’ve posted several times and I’m semi-experienced in healthcare. What I’m not familiar with is how to give myself proper “self care” days. What’re some things you all do to take care of yourself after several shifts? I found myself this week quite literally bed rotting until yesterday around noon I was catching up on chores and such up until I left for work. I’m always sore feeling like I’m 80 and overly exhausted. Any tips would help! I’d switch jobs but quite frankly being at the highest paying job I’ve had so far I can’t really afford to leave it right now. So any advice other than switch to a different facility would be helpful lol!
