We tracked 50 SaaS brands across ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity — backlinks mattered less than expected

After analyzing AI-search visibility patterns across multiple SaaS brands, one thing stood out:

Traditional DR/backlink metrics alone didn’t predict AI visibility very well.

Brands consistently appearing in AI answers usually had:

  • strong topical ecosystems
  • Reddit/community mentions
  • comparison content
  • documentation/support content
  • YouTube discussions
  • Repeated entity mentions across the web

Interestingly, only a small number of domains overlapped consistently across all major AI surfaces.

AI search appears to be evaluating “trust ecosystems” instead of just link authority.

Curious if others tracking GEO/AEO are seeing similar patterns?

What’s one thing about Darjeeling that tourists usually don’t understand until they actually visit?

It could be food, weather, roads, people, culture, or even something funny. Curious to hear locals’ opinions 👀

Google Analytics Finally Added AI Assistant Traffic Tracking by Default

https://preview.redd.it/99wd8b47091h1.jpg?width=1122&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=185cf98ffea3e7e13563b75e7dca39d5d6ff055b

Looks like GA4 is finally catching up with how people actually discover websites in 2026.

Google just introduced a new default “AI Assistant” channel group that automatically tracks traffic coming from AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other recognized AI assistants. Instead of getting buried inside “Referral” traffic, AI-driven visits now appear separately inside GA4 reports.

Honestly, this feels overdue.

Many SEO teams have been manually building regex filters and custom channel groups for months to determine whether AI search traffic was actually driving clicks. Now, Google is basically admitting AI assistants are becoming their own acquisition channel.

What’s Interesting Is The Bigger Implication:

  • AI traffic is no longer considered “experimental”.
  • Google officially sees AI assistants as a major discovery source.
  • SEO reporting is shifting beyond traditional organic search.
  • Brands can now compare AI traffic vs organic vs paid more clearly.

Considering how AI Overviews and conversational search are changing click behaviour, this update feels like a pretty major signal for the future of SEO. Some reports are already showing AI search interfaces heavily impacting traditional CTR patterns.

Curious how everyone here is seeing AI traffic lately.

Are you actually getting meaningful visits/conversions from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, etc. yet, or is it still tiny compared to Google organic for you?

Right now, Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, and maybe Lachung/Yumthang are on my list, but I’m not sure what’s realistically possible in 3 days.

I’m more into scenic views, local food, peaceful places, and good road-trip vibes rather than crowded tourist spots.

Would love some suggestions on:

  • Best itinerary for 3 days
  • Places actually worth visiting
  • Hidden spots/cafes
  • Things to avoid
  • Budget tips, if any

Would really appreciate recommendations from people who’ve recently been there 🙂
