So I finished the EarthBound Beginnings remake and here's the thoughts I've gathered

I can now say I have finished the entire trilogy in some capacity (though I have yet to finish the game on the NES). I finished EarthBound first in December of 2021 and Mother 3 in January of 2023.

Compared to EarthBound I think this is the shorter, but certainly more difficult of the two, even counting the 1995 original. More things just clicked for me there.

Pippi is not an enemy here or in the original. Mother Encore brought back the original plans for her to be a boss.

Also, the teleport sound is normal in this remake. On the NES it is straight from the NES Tetris game over sound. This is the same brand of Tetris played by the Classic Tetris World Championship. Delay between crash and recovery is longer here. It's going to be more difficult to use teleport on Mount Itoi to progress because enemies are present in the overworld instead of in random encounters.

I just completed EarthBound for the third time for the 31st anniversary.

I have played through to the end twice before - in late 2021 and again in late 2022, and followed up the second playthrough with Mother 3, which I finished in January of 2023.

Also Mother Encore released its second act but before the project finishes, I plan to finish Mother 1 on the NES first. That's the only one of the trilogy I haven't finished.

Fobby strangeness (Brainshock Ω) experiment, including rare dialogue

So I inflicted Brainshock Ω on a bunch of Fobbies in the seventh sanctuary cave and intentionally only attacked them or brainshocked them again when they stopped feeling strange, otherwise I merely defended

Since one of their attacks is HP-sucker, I figured they would eventually drain the HP of one of their own buddies, including themselves. When they self-inflicted, this is the dialogue I got:

Fobby drained its own HP!

Has anyone seen this dialogue before?

The official release of Mother 1 as EarthBound Beginnings did not have it the best when it comes to translation work. What if EarthBound fared just as badly?
