Solidarity with farmers is missing

Hi friends,

When I first read the news about the Russian ban on Armenian produce, my first thought was that the market is going to be flooded with very affordable veggies and fruit, and that everyone in their right mind would buy in bulk and make as many preserves as possible.

I think I’m kind of disappointed that I don’t see any movement of solidarity forming anywhere. I don’t hear any collective support towards the farmers.

Imagine how awesome it would be if hamaynqapetarans organized some fairs or festivals bringing together growers, preserves-makers and buyers. You bet I would stock up.

Anyways, I’m going to buy a bunch of things and go to my grandmas and make an event out of it.

Trainings für Kinder, AnfängerInnen und Fortgeschrittene? Absolut. Show-Match mit einer Großmeisterin? Natürlich. Offenes Spiel für alle Level? Selbstredend. Drinks und Vibes? Immer.

Where to host a dinner in Garni

Hey everyone. I would really like to ask for help to figure out which restaurant to book in Garni for a big family/friends dinner.

I myself haven’t been back in the country for a couple of years and am out of touch with the restaurant scene there. On the other hand, I am a bit suspicious of all the ads and reviews on social media and google maps.

My request would be to get recommendations of just delicious food, normal portions, okay prices, not very glam but cute and tidy places. Maybe even a view. And our event is going to be more on the casual side, so no dressing up, but still memorable.

Have you been somewhere in Garni recently that you really liked? Please share your experiences. Or if you went somewhere that’s well known but was a horrible experience, also let me know.

Hallo zusammen! Wir organisieren unser zweites Schach-Picknick der Saison. Kommt vorbei und spielt mit!

Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich. Wir halten einige Decken bereit, ihr könnt aber natürlich auch gerne eure eigenen mitbringen. Bringt bitte eigene Snacks und Getränke für euch selbst mit.

Über uns: Im Mittelpunkt der BACC-Veranstaltungen steht das zwanglose, nicht-kompetitive Schachspiel; Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen, Neues auszuprobieren und neue Leute kennenzulernen. Neben dem reinen Spielbetrieb bietet das BACC diverse weitere „Module“, die organisch in das jeweilige Abendprogramm integriert sind: Schachtrainingseinheiten, Quizze, Vorträge und Filmvorführungen dienen nicht nur dazu, Anfänger wie Fortgeschrittene gleichermaßen mit dem Spiel vertraut zu machen, sondern auch dazu, dessen breitere kulturelle und historische Facetten zu erkunden. Live-Musik, die dynamische Atmosphäre und die Förderung des Austauschs brechen mit stereotypen Vorstellungen vom Schachspiel und machen es einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich.

Hey everybody, last week we had a fantastic chess picnic in Schmechtingswiese. New picnic dates will be announced soon. But on 16th of May we will have a training for people with a score of 1000-1600 on chess.com, followed by our regular open play. Come!
