Is Sly Cooper 4 canon? A friendly debate.

Is Sly Cooper 4 canon? A friendly debate.

After my last post, I realized that many people don't like the version of Sly seen in *Sly 4*—so much so that some don't even consider it part of the canon. So, I’m opening up the debate: do you consider *Sly Cooper 4* to be canon? Yes? No? Why? I saw a discussion spark up over the fact that Sly leaves Carmelita because he got the "itch" to go back to stealing.

Would Sly make a good husband and father? (friendly debate)

I know it’s an odd question, but I like analyzing different characters in various contexts. Sly and Carmelita are a favorite canon couple, but I often wonder what the relationship would look like in a more advanced stage. I know it would be a somewhat turbulent pairing given their individual personalities, but specifically... would Sly be a good father? A good husband? I mean, Sly had already retired, but the "itch" got to him and he went back to his old ways, as shown in the last game. I’m not questioning whether he would love his son or daughter or Carmelita—he obviously would; Sly loves Carmelita, and I’m sure if they had a baby, he’d love the child too. I’m referring to the aspect of responsibility: being physically, emotionally, and financially present for his child and Carmelita—being there for them, supporting them, remembering important dates, doing household chores, and so on. In that context... would Sly be any good? Wouldn't he run off to steal something in the middle of the night? Wouldn't he take his baby along on a mission? Let's be honest: the character tends to be a bit overconfident. But what do you all think?

What if the Coopers only have one child to avoid wiping each other out?

What if the Coopers only have one child to avoid wiping each other out? I've had this question for a while. As far as we know, Sly is the last living Cooper, which is strange since in the last game, Sly's ancestors believe he's actually a relative, meaning there were more Coopers alive at that time. But now, in the future, Sly is alone after his parents' death. Sly is a "thief with a code," but I don't think all Coopers were like that, and it made me wonder: what if having the family book caused relatives to destroy each other? What led to the clan's near extinction and the implementation of the one-child rule? (Poor Carmelita, she'll have to be sacrificed to save the Cooper clan.) But anyway, it's just my theory.

Carmelita and Sly's relationship in "Sly Cooper 4"

The interactions between these two in the game made me laugh a lot.
