Newbie instructor needing help with specific student
Hi all!
I'm a complete noobie when it comes to Preply (started almost 3 weeks ago), so even being a tech person, it's a confusing platform, to be honest. At least for me.
Here's my situation:
The "student" didn't schedule a trial session and went straight to buying 8 lessons with me, once a week, basically pre-paying 2 months of lessons. I forgot to ask for more info before the lesson (I had too many trials scheduled, my mistake).
When I got there, turns out she'd booked those lessons for her niece, who's 14.
I don't teach kids or teenagers. I don't have a degree in education and don't feel I have the expertise for that. And honestly, I prefer teaching adults, the subjects and content just flow more naturally.
We already did the first lesson today.
I didn't want to waste her time or money, so I went with the basics with the niece for this one session. But I don't want to continue...
I felt really uncomfortable with the situation, and honestly, continuing would be a waste of my time and her money.
So my questions are:
- How can I cancel all remaining lessons without her losing the money she already spent?
- If I message her explaining the situation and then block her (to avoid any back-and-forth or pressure to continue), can she still get a refund, or transfer the credits to another tutor?
- Does Preply "support" me in any way regarding this situation? Like, it's not my fault she did not scheduled a trial lesson so we could know each other.
