I think my Pyr is broken…
Hi guys! It’s Bao again, and she’s now 11-month-old! I joined this subreddit when we first adopted her at 9 weeks old, and have been reading so many posts of fellow Pyrs barking and guarding. However, I think Bao is broken…. she does not bark, except maybe 5 times in the months that we’ve had her.
She also has no guard dog bone in her, though she tries… The only time I’ve heard her bark and growl were: at the neighbor’s trash cans; at the dark abyss in our backyard (this kinda freaked me out because it was 3am and there was nothing there 😭); and at the neighbor’s kids on the other side of our backyard fence (she did not growl, only very pitiful barks).
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’m very grateful that she isn’t a barker. We live in a neighborhood with lots of kids so I’d hate to get complaints on the barking. I love Bao to bits and though she isn’t acting like a guardian dog much, she is still 1000% the best girl ever! I mean just look at her face!!! Can you blame me?
I appreciate all the heads up that this sub has given me in advance on what to expect with a Great Pyrenees, because Bao definitely still has the personality, stubbornness, and most of all - the sass of her ancestors.
