Rear diff oil
I was changing my diff fluid for the first time ever today and I noticed some old oil all around the diff cover closest to the drive shaft. Does this mean that a gasket or seal has failed for the rear diff?

My GF has a 2017 LX AWD that's around 150k. She recently had this issue where for the first 10 minutes of driving before everything is up to temperature, the cvt will not quite engage and the engine will rev up more than usual when she accelerates. It takes about a second for the transmission to finally work and then it accelerates normally. This issue is more prominent when she accelerates out of a corner more than just a straight line. But once the engine and transmission are up to temperature the problem goes away. She got the car around 80k I think and she has not done any transmission service on it and I don't know if the previous owner has either.

So we took it into a transmission shop and after driving it they noticed the issue too and did a fluid change because they inspected the check plug and nothing came out so it was low on fluid. We get the car back and we're still having the issue. We're not really sure where to go from here.

Has anyone else had this kind of issue? Could this be a possible transmission replacement?
