Splitrock Mining in 2026

My layout is set in 1969. Friends asked if I would ever have a modern version and paint an engine up for the 250th celebration. I did the math and figured by 2009 it would be gone. ( remember 2008 ?, anyone, Buehler?) So instead of an engine I made it a bike trail. /s

Weathered gondolas

Here are two I recently finished. I used a combination of oils, acrylics, and Pan Pastels with a VMS Matte Varnish. A fine point white paint pen was used for the interior markings. I see these interior numbers on many cars so the scrap dealer crane operators know which car they are filling.
