Question about what to do for my kids current situation
I have a high schooler who's playing trumpet, she loves marching band, concert band and jazz band. I got her a used Bach Strad 37 from a friend of a friend for about 1k for her after 8th grade, she had been using a starter cornet up until then.
Current Situation:
My son is now playing trumpet (6th grade) as well, he's got her starter cornet and it's seen better days, so I assume he'll need an upgrade soon. And in marching band, my daughter's Strad just got some bell damage at the last marching band competition which really needs to be fixed. She's saying that everyone else has multiple trumpets, and she needs a 2nd, but I feel like the one she currently has should be "the nice one" and probably should get repaired and be kept indoors from now on, but I'm not sure what way to go forward, and what direction I should go to get different instruments for both of them without spending 1,000's of dollars. Any thought's suggestions? I know they don't need the best, but I don't want to hamper them by getting the cheapest things out there either.
