Leaving before Senior

Would love some insight from folks here.

Currently a second year audit associate but got on a new team and got a bad review going right into promotion period. I had good reviews in my previous review cycles. I think it will impact my promotion to senior. I talked to a manager privately who I developed a mentor / mentee relationship with and she said she’d like me on her engagements as a senior if I want to pivot back.

However I been job searching just to cover my ass and see some openings I might consider applying but I’m conflicted and would like insight.

- hypothetically if I apply and get an offer, I’ll leave before senior promotion, how will that impact me if on my resume I never reached senior in big4 in future recruiting? I don’t think it’d matter but would love to hear thoughts

- promotions are not until summer so I’m not worried about getting let go before then and from now until summer I think WLB is manageable and this engagement won’t be too terrible, should I stay and wait to job searching?

Edit to add: I am in the progress of getting my CPA certification (all exams passed)

Wondering if anyone has an insights on this program. My main questions are:

- Is it a standard 40 hour work week
- Size of the team that you’d be interacting with
- Typically salary for MCOL

My background:
- 2 years in audit within the aerospace and defense so I have experience with financial statements, internal controls, and even tested revenue (EAC/ETC) for commercial and governmental contract

Looking to pivot because the WLB is stressing me out at my job. I don’t mind the travel as I been traveling a lot for my current job anyways.
