Of course I'm the one to get the side effects.

I wasn't going to post this because I don't actually want to scare people off the med, but after thinking about it for the past 48 hours, I've come to the conclusion that I'd want all the info I could get, even if it's not great info. So ....

TDLR: If you develop persistent nausea and vomiting, stop your meds immediately. Don't be me and say "oh, but I paid so much for that and I really need to lose the weight," and keep going. Sure, you might just have a stomach bug, and then you can start again as soon as it passes. But better to be safe than hospitalized.

Anyway, if you want the whole sordid tale so far, here it is. I started Wegovy a month and a half ago, took my 14th 4mg pill on Tuesday morning, and my entire digestive track just, I don't know, stopped. At first, I just thought I got some weird stomach bug. Nothing would stay down but super small sips of water, basically enough to take my morning pill and my other meds later in the day. By Thursday, I couldn't even keep enough water down to take my meds.

By Friday (Day 2 of no meds), I was so dehydrated I couldn't even sit up for any length of time and ended up in the ER being pumped full of meds to get things moving, 3 bags of saline, and a very nice dose of Zofran. That helped get me upright, and on the doctor's suggestion, I drank a nutritional shake before leaving the hospital. Thanks to the large dose of Zofran at the hospital, the milkshake stayed down a total of 4 hours (almost to the minute, it was weird) and then came right back up. Yesterday and today, thanks to a called-in Zofran prescription, I've been able to *slowly* eat some crackers and broth throughout the day and keep myself semi-hydrated, but anything more than that is a no-go.

CT scan at the hospital shows no blockages, so the current theory is gastroparesis due to the Wegovy. I just have to wait until tomorrow to get the ball rolling with the gastroenterologist. And in the meantime hope that things start moving on their own the longer I'm off the med.

(On the plus side... well, sort of... the abdominal CT scan also showed an unrelated asymptomatic issue that points me closer to a diagnosis for something else, and which, if never detected, could shorten my lifespan, so ... I guess I'm glad they caught it? I'll figure how I feel about that down the road. One thing at a time, please.)

Anyway, I know some of us aren't really good at listening to our bodies, that's how we got here in the first place, but please be careful. Take it from me, losing weight because you physically cannot eat is way different than losing weight the healthy way.
