Beautiful RSS News - All your news in one place

Beautiful RSS News just got published!

https://trmnl.com/recipes/395962

  • you can choose from preselected RSS news feeds (tested to work great with this plugin - e.g. they use images)
  • you can bring your own RSS news feeds
  • and you can choose multiple feeds that will merge into one feed!
  • everything is displayed in one beautiful layout supported by cover images

I wanted a News plugin that is general enough but also really simple for casual users. I felt like every current news or RSS plugins was either single medium focused or generalization made too much compromises on information displayed (e.g. cutting out titles too early). Plugin does not try to be a list of news but it takes more focused approach - if the news shows it gives it enough space to present the information.

I will be super happy if you give it a try, spent quite some time with this one till I stroke the right balance 😅. Also if you have some tips for the local media super popular in your country or significant media from other categories I will be super happy to add them to the preselected ones!

Atlas Obscura - Place of the Day

Hello everyone! My TRMNL plugin that displays Place of the Day from Atlas Obscura just got published.

https://trmnl.com/recipes/396344

Never heard of Atlas Obscura? Neither do I before I started some research for another plugin and this website came out. They have a very tasteful selection of places around the world that are usually more on the niche side. But that makes most of them really interesting and charming (and less touristy). As their tagline says: Atlas Obscura is a definitive guidebook and friendly tour-guide to the world's most wondrous places.

They pick one place every day so it is a nice way to discover not so popular landmarks around the globe and I guarantee you that shortly you will have a few new travel tips noted :).

If you prefer quieter screen you can hide the QR code or title bar in the settings.

I made a Tour de France plugin for TRMNL devices

Hey!
I recently bought a TRMNL e-ink display and since the Tour is behind the corner I decided to build a plugin that will follow the tour - current jersey holders, GC ranking and also a short summary about upcoming stage. I built it mainly for myself but since there is an option to publish plugins I decided to do that and you can get it on your TRMNL for free :).

https://trmnl.com/recipes/358042

If you do not know TRMNL they manufacture an e-ink displays and not only hardware but also a whole ecosystem around them. If you are familiar with terms like open source or BYOD or BYOS they do all of that which is pretty unique these days. The plugin should be optimized for all screen sizes you choose so hopefully it finds at least a one person who will find it useful!

Vive Le Tour!

If you love gaming news, check out the This Week in Videogames plugin I crafted for TRMNL

Hello everyone!

If you love videogames, especially videogame news, my This Week in Videogames plugin has just been published.

https://trmnl.com/recipes/336231

TWIV is a videogame news site focused on high-quality coverage of the most important stories, along with some original reporting. They typically publish only 3-5 stories a day, which makes it a perfect fit for TRMNL. Even better, the site is completely ad-free, the content is written by humans (no AI), and it's supported entirely by subscribers.

I spent a lot of time making the layouts look as good as possible across every TRMNL device and screen size. I'd love to hear your feedback, especially from TRMNL X owners, since I don't have one myself. Ironically, I think that's where the plugin looks the best 😄.

P.S. I enjoyed designing this layout so much that I've already started turning it into a more general Beautiful RSS News plugin that will work with any RSS feed (or even multiple feeds). Hopefully I'll have enough time to finish it in the next few days!
