Refugee Status Denied
My refugee status has been denied. Do we have a sense for whether they have returned any trans people back to the U.S. or other countries that pose a risk?
I only know of one story and that person wasn't returned.

I work at a university, and it has now become clear to me that my administration cares more about not upsetting students (or their parents) than upholding standards. Part of me is frustrated that I am told to care about comprehension and grade things that get turned in, but that the grades don't matter. If the grades we give out have no relevance to demonstrating the skills taught in class, then what does that even mean for teaching as a profession? My students turn in AI-generated work all the time and complain when it is rejected. When my students write without AI, they won't even do the basic spell check before turning things in. I feel like I am drowning in a loss of meaning. I hate grading, and the system of competition that it has supported, but effort is still important. Is there anyone out there who has gone from disillusioned to figuring out how to teach in this atmosphere?
