I'm Introducing Myself For More Consistent Help.

Hi everyone,

This is a bit of an unusual post, so if it's not appropriate for this subreddit, please let me know and I'll remove it.

My name is Angus, and I'm a third-year UQ student studying a dual degree: a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) and a Bachelor of Computer Science. I'm specializing in Mechatronic Engineering with a major in Mining.

I've found university to be a much bigger adjustment than I expected. Over the past three years, I've struggled academically and have unfortunately failed several courses, including repeating one of them. It's been frustrating, but I'm determined to keep going and finish my degree.

I'm also on the autism spectrum, which can make certain aspects of university—particularly communication, adapting to new material, and completing assignments—more challenging for me. I don't mention this as an excuse, but to provide some context for why I sometimes need more support than other students.

One thing I've learned is that I benefit enormously from one-on-one help. Throughout school I had much more individual support, but at university that's much harder to find. As my courses become more specialised, it's also becoming increasingly difficult to find tutors who are familiar with the material.

Because of that, you'll probably see me posting here at the beginning of every semester looking for tutoring or academic help for my courses. I wanted to make this post so people know why I'll be asking so often.

You don't have to be a professional tutor. If you've completed one of the courses I'm taking and think you could help—even just by answering questions, explaining concepts, or sharing advice—I would genuinely appreciate hearing from you. Any amount of help makes a difference.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to lend a hand.

Just DM directly.
