"Morally gray" Enclave potential (MUCHO TEXTO and VERY SERIOUS)

In the past couple of years I've noticed that there's an uptick in people making Fallout fanworks featuring reformed Enclaves where they suddenly become wholesome 100 towards wastelanders and even mutants. I could ramble on about how this is because of American exceptionalism needing itself to look good or some bullshit like that but that's BORING. So instead I'm just going to point out that there is no way in hell an organization that has existed for hundreds of years with elitist values being quite literally etched into its foundations would suddenly find itself very accepting of outsiders. The Enclave was founded as a doomsday cult by the top 1% of pre-war American society who genuinely viewed people below them as equivalent to cattle which I personally think means that rejecting this xenophobic elitism would be the equivalent of rejecting their own group's identity. Even then, I do think there's still potential to the idea of a reformed Enclave. Personally, my take on a reformed Enclave would be an Enclave that is still quite paternalistic towards the wasteland populace but not outright genocidal with the Enclave taking up a "civilizing mission" rhetoric in their "reclamation" Of the wasteland. They still would 100% commit atrocities like they did in the ACTUAL games and colonial empires did in our world but it still isn't like, total annihilation of the wasteland population. You could like create political infighting within Enclave ranks regarding the "Wastelander Question" With opinions ranging from "We Must Destroy The Inferior Wasteland Races" To "We should like, make them our slaves" Or "Oh, those [SLUR FOR WASTELANDERS HERE]? Well, I think we have a great burden to civilize them and teach them the American way". Idk I was tired while typing this and just wanted to get my opinion on Shit No One With An Actual Life Thinks About out there.
