The Falling Action

The falling action is the part of the plot that follows the climax. It serves to finish the story and tie up any loose ends. Sometimes, books and series race through the falling action, like Harry Potter after the death of Voldemort, or Percy Jackson and the death of Luke/Kronos.

But in Inheritance, after Galbatorix is dead and Murtagh flees...there are still a hundred pages to go. Every single loose end is tied up. Every thread gets an ending. Everyone finishes their story. And that's awesome! Paolini deserves credit for spending so much time AFTER the climax, after the big bad has been defeated. I think that's part of what makes this series so great. The nice, long, satisfying ending.
