I graduated at the beginning of the year In Feb and after going through my schools NCLEX prep class, then waiting for my ATt I was finally licensed in May. I went from CNA to LVN and went from making $20hr to $34hr overnight. I have since changed jobs and got a soft nursing job 8-4 type job and my life has changed for the better. I’m hoping to grind a little bit more to only income, but my life has gotten so much better, I spend more time with my wife, I’m off every weekend and I don’t have to worry about my bills. Can anyone else share what nursing has done for them. I love to hear success stories. Also it’s my cake day so I just want celebrate with some uplifting stories. Thank you to all in this community.

I’ve been in long term care for a long time. I work at a SNF making $34 hr. I just recently got a job in primary care. I’m taking a hit of $2.50 but my friend who already works there said it’s worth it for the the reduced level of stress. The one good thing about working at a SNF is all the over time. With one day of overtime I’m making $51 hr so that’s comes to about $408. But now that I’m going to be working at a clinic I won’t be able to make as much. My question for you seasond LVNs is, is home health a good source of supplemental income. I’ve seen some postings on indeed that say $45-50 an hour so I’m assuming per visit. I’ve heard a lot of good thing but Ive also heard a lot horror stories. My plan was to work M-F at my new job and then pick up 1 or 2 shifts in the weekend at my current facility, or try to find a facility that pays more. Anybody do shift care like 1:1, I’ve seen some listings from $28-$30 hr. I just want some extra money to pay off my loans and my credit card. Any advice or experiences would be super helpful.

So I just got my quick results back and i PASSED! Woo! I’m in CA, question for any CA LVNs. How long after my quick results will my license be posted? Do I have to apply to receive my license after I pass? Can I start applying for jobs even though I don’t have license # yet? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some people have said I have to pay to get my license, but one of my coworkers says that it just happens automatically since I already paid for the application fee.
