Cleaned up my Gentoo OpenRC + OpenBox setup: world 29, system 50, depclean 0

Cleaned up my Gentoo OpenRC + OpenBox setup.

- gentoo-kernel 6.18.35-gentoo-dist

- LUKS + LVM boot confirmed

- OpenBox + startx working

- WebKit removed / not installed

- depclean: 0 packages to remove

- world: 29

- system: 50

- installed packages: 612

Still not ultra-minimal, but for a usable Xorg/OpenBox desktop with Mesa, fonts, input, terminal, wallpaper, and kernel sources, this is probably close to the practical limit.

Gaming monitor, non-gaming Gentoo.

ROG Strix 27" QHD.

Gentoo stays as my OpenRC/X/Openbox maintenance machine.

Gaming will stay on Bazzite.

@world finished @preserved-rebuild clean reboot test passed Openbox + xterm + mc back

Update: @world finished.

@preserved-rebuild returned nothing to rebuild.

Reboot test passed. Openbox, xterm and Midnight Commander are back.

I am leaving depclean and config cleanup for later.

Gentoo maintenance day: @world update after months

Gentoo update in progress.

Backed up the system first, updated Portage, handled news items and Python target changes, mounted EFI, then started @world.

293 packages after months of leaving it alone.

This is the part people forget: Gentoo is not the install. It is the maintenance.

“Using Gentoo” vs “maintaining Gentoo”

The real Gentoo test is not “I use Gentoo, btw.”

It is whether you can maintain the system over time: `@world` updates, USE flags, kernel updates, backups, depclean decisions, and recovery.

In the end, “I maintain Gentoo” means more than “I installed Gentoo.”
