I just want to keep this flower around forever ♥️

I bought my first two A. obesum last month. This plant was bare-root, and leafless. There's a single point where it seems it was damaged and a coin sized dark circle. It's firm overall, I would say even this spot is firm. The spot hasn't grown, and the plant looks like it's breaking dormancy now.

I don't know if I should be worried about this. I feel like I could maybe cut it and repot, but that feels drastic and risky. Should I do anything? Is this always a slow death sentence?
