pls forgive me if i sound stupid or wrong— its been a couple months since i finished watching hannibal so my memory is a bit hazy— but why does will, time and again, keep coming back to hannibal even after EVERYTHING he's done to him?? will's incarceration, isolation, literally getting fed abigail's ear and getting stabbed, etc...??? there's SOME leniency with the mizumono incident due to context and all the other stuff but regardless it baffles me how will chooses hannibal every single time.

is it really just a matter of, "hannibal gets me like nobody else, gives me freedom of expression like nobody else, and for that i will always keep coming back" with a dash of masochism, manipulation and everything inbetween?? guys pls help 💔

To clarify I’ve already watched this show and I’m currently rewatching it. But what I'm confused about is why Hannibal left from the Norman chapel's underground tunnels instead of greeting will, even after reciprocating Hannibal’s forgiveness?

I feel like it’s because he’s still wary and suspicious of Will, which I think is a plausible idea especially considering how hannibal’s affection for him was exploited and used against him in s2. He doesn't know if will is lying, or if he’s telling the truth. For all he knows, he could be lying to set him up again and capture him. So if I were Hannibal, I wouldn't stay there— much less say a word either. BUTTT then again Hannibal did say that he forgave will but idk.

But alternatively, it could also be that he just wants to prolong their meeting with a (temporary) cat-and-mouse chase because he wants to edge will or something and make him wait until they meet in the gallery. We’ve seen Hannibal spying on will when he was lying down on the altar; he’s purposefully staying out of sight but also close enough to observe him— but why?

What are your thoughts? I’d love some insight from other people too !!

im rewatching hannibal right now and im a bit confused. during will's incarceration arc i genuinely cannot tell how hannibal feels ABOUT will being behind bars. like.. how does he feel knowing will's in prison because of what he did? personally i think that hannibal partially did this so he can get closer with the fbi and be perceived as an ally— but when he sees will glaring at him, throwing aggressive statements at him and just throwing a bitch fit behind bars, how does hannibal feel? what are his motives for will SPECIFICALLY; what is he achieving for will by framing him as a murderer and putting him in prison?

and also, did hannibal feel some sort of remorse or regret for putting will in jail? and did he truly want him out because of it— or is it just part of his grand plan for him? i think he did, but knowing who he naturally is i cant help but think that theres some kind of ulterior motive behind it all.

i started watching hannibal the other day, and idk if its because im really bad at interpreting meanings but i really cant seem to get a good grasp of hannibal and will's motives. i did some redditing, got spoiled, and i think i understand it— only partially. could someone clarify for me so i dont have to sit and wonder whats going on in the next episodes? feel free to just spoil everything idc, ive already gotten plenty of it 💔

1. why did hannibal tell will that he already knew about abigail killing nick (but never told will), and then he helped her dispose of the body? what does he get out of it?
2. what is hannibal trying to achieve by establishing a 'murder family' (or so i've been told) dynamic between him, will, and abigail?
3. how does will truly feel about his empathy disorder? like when he snaps out of his empathy shenanigans at a crime scene does he feel good when he assumes the killer's pov and experiences the thrill of violence? is he scared because of how intense it is.. or is he afraid of admitting that he likes it?
4. how does hannibal specifically feel when he sees will lose his mind over his empathy disorder: what's he thinking, how does he see will in that moment and is it a sign his plan is working or what? second of all, what IS hannibal's motive to begin with (i need clarification)
5. why does will stay in the field even though he and several others know its causing him mental instability? is it a sense of obligation after jack keeps forcing him to do it? because hes the only one who's good at what he does? or because will wants to go through his empathy shenanigans again to feel that little craving for violence of whatever??

5.5. is the reason as to why will pretends everything's alright because he doesnt want to admit theres something wrong with him?

6. i did also find out that one of hannibal's goals is to bring will over to his side or something about making will his equal. but how come he's deliberately "worrying" about will or directing him away from what hannibal wants for him?? if that makes sense.

7. what specifically is will stressed about, especially during his extreme mental deterioration arc? is he scared that he's gonna go on a killing spree while losing time or what
