Pre Op Instruction Question

My surgery is Friday, and the pre op instructions I got are different than any other surgery I've had before, so my overthinking brain just wants to see if anyone got the same instructions. I'm used to hearing no food or liquids for 8 hours before surgery, but my surgeon said morning of, 4 hours before my scheduled time, to drink 12 Oz of Gatorade or clear apple juice. The instructions do apparently come from the anesthesia team (on paper with their letterhead), but again, overthinking.

I can't help it, I'll keep overthinking until I'm in the operating room going under. I did try calling the number I had for them to see with them but the patient advocate said to call the hospital, but I dont have an extension or know what section of the hospital to ask for so... anyone else get these instructions too?

(Also what's the difference between clear apple juice and regular apple juice, like, is there something specific I should be looking for on the label or the juice itself?)

Stay overnight after surgery or no?

So my surgery is next week, and my surgeon wants me to stay overnight after (apparently the insurance quotes were made with this in mind), mostly so that I can get a spinal block of some kind that she said would act as like 24hr pain relief immediately after and would help with the ride home the next day. But getting that block requires an overnight stay for observation. She said I could change my mind day of, so right now I'm tentatively agreeing to it. So I'm mostly just looking for opinions from people on if it would be worth it, and if it is, what would you recommend bringing for the overnight stay?
