CTO of CRML, banned from the AusIMM after Unsupported claims on mineral deposit viability and violations in industrial minerals reporting

The AusIMM has formally determined that Critical Metals Corp. ($CRML) CTO George Karageorge violated multiple JORC Code provisions, resulting in a permanent membership ban for making unsupported claims and failing to meet professional reporting standards.

The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy is the industry's ethics and standards body for mining professionals.

Karageorge breached multiple JORC Code provisions and AusIMM Code of Ethics clauses, specifically:

  • Lack of transparency and undisclosed conflicts
  • Failure to document material information
  • Unsupported claims on "reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction"
  • Violations in industrial minerals reporting

As CTO, Karageorge is responsible for CRML's technical reporting integrity—the foundation of reserve estimates, viability assessments, and investor disclosures on the Greenland project.

CRML has remained silent on the AusIMM determination.

This has escalated - regulators have been formally notified of these violations.

Updates will follow as the case progresses.

Critical Metals Corp ($CRML) - A Long History of Broken Promises and Failed Ventures

Exactly two years ago, CRML CEO Tony Sage told investors that the company would become the “EU’s only battery-grade lithium mine by 2027,” after announcing that it had “finalized a deal with Saudi Arabia’s Obeikan Group” to form a joint venture for a large-scale lithium hydroxide processing plant in Saudi Arabia.

With less than six months remaining until 2027, there has been no progress on either the Wolfsberg mine or the proposed lithium hydroxide plant in Saudi Arabia.

------------

After failing to deliver on that project, the company shifted its attention to another asset: the Tanbreez rare-earth-elements deposit in Greenland.

Once again, the company and its CEO released announcements about proposed joint ventures—this time, two of them: one involving Romania and another involving Saudi Arabia. Both announcements described massive processing facilities that would position CRML as a Western leader in rare-earth-element supply.

What is striking is the use of the exact same playbook: ambitious claims, major announcements, missed deadlines, no progress, and then radio silence about why delivery failed.

------------

The bigger question is: at what point does the SEC decide to investigate a pattern like this? At this stage, CRML’s history no longer appears to be a series of isolated setbacks, but rather a systematic strategy of promoting deals that never come to fruition.

CRML CEO Tony Sage insults and threatens investor after criticism of company practices

Tony Sage, CEO of CRML, responded to an investor questioning company practices with this message from his official X account:

“We found who and where he is. An absolute loser”

A public company CEO suggesting they’ve identified and located a critic crosses a clear line. It reads less like corporate communication and more like intimidation—something fundamentally incompatible with listed-company standards.

⚠️ Another Missed Deadline: Pilot Plant Not Delivered as Promised

In January, management said the pilot plant would be operational no later than May.

That’s now been pushed to August.

A delay by itself wouldn’t be that unusual. What stands out is the pattern over the past year of shifting timelines and changing priorities.

Last year, several milestones were missed or moved, including a BFS that was previously guided with a clear release timeline before being walked back. Management later said the pilot plant needed to be completed first for the BFS, making it the key dependency—despite the BFS already being promised earlier.

At the start of this year, they reinforced that focus and described the pilot plant as the top priority.

In January, the CEO also mentioned that by May they would have a high-tech drone system operating to livestream site activity and provide visibility into progress. That hasn’t happened either.

Now the same pilot plant that was positioned as the central focus has been delayed past the “no later than May” guidance.

That naturally raises a few questions:

  • What actually caused the delay to August?
  • When did they realize May wasn’t realistic?
  • Why wasn’t there any explanation with the update?
  • And if the top priority keeps missing deadlines, how reliable is guidance going forward?

The delay article also includes photos that show no visible progress on site, and some of the imagery even appears to include nearby infrastructure (such as the local airport), which doesn’t really reflect actual mine development progress.

At this point it’s less about one delay and more about whether there’s a consistent execution and communication issue.
