eye strain and full time wear?

when I first got my glasses about 6 months ago, I only wore them ittermittently. as of about 2 weeks ago, I started wearing them full time as I felt it pretty comfortable, and now I feel pretty much completely dependent on my glasses for all things because I get eye strain pretty much immediately from doing anything when I take them off, even looking at my phone close. is this a normal phenomena? and should I just continue wearing full time? with how profound the strain is now, I can't imagine not wearing them to be honest, and it hasn't even been 2 weeks of full-time wear. did I maybe make myself dependent?

left eye -1 myopia, .5 astigmatism, right eye -1.5 myopia, .25 astigmatism.

new-ish to glasses and I can't see anything when I take them off now.

for reference my prescription is -1 in the left w/ .5 astigmatism and -1.5 in right with .25 astigmatism. forgot my glasses a few months ago, and I wore them intermittently, but over time I started getting headaches, eye strain, and all sorts of other comfort related issues involving intermittent wear. about a week ago, I decided to wear them pretty much full time, every waking moment of the day, to where they're the first thing I put on the morning and the last thing I take off at night. now, if I take them off, I feel pretty much completely blind. front of me, I can't even make out the text on a Coca-Cola can to tell if it's a Coca-Cola from across my room anymore, whereas 3 months ago I had no issue doing that without glasses. it even feels weird to walk down my hallway without them now, as my depth perception feels completely bonkers without my glasses now. a week ago, it was more strenuous to try and use my computer with them on, and now the ghosting on text is so bad without my glasses that I would just log off the PC without them. I feel pretty much completely dependent on them now. should I continue to wear full-time or should I try and go back to intermittent wear and bear through the strain and headaches?

I got an eye exam recently and the results were that I have 20/40 in the left eye and 20/100 in the right eye. they gave me a prescription which I got filled and this is my first pair of glasses. day to day I don't have many problems at all, only sometimes looking at things far having to squint, and my biggest problem really is night driving which the prescription really helps with. my question to you guys is, should I only wear the glasses I have when I need them in order to prevent further nearsightedness, or should I be wearing them all the time? the eye doctor suggested I wear them all the time but I'm concerned that once I start doing such I won't be able to go without them. also they make it a bit harder to see when looking at near things, ie. computer screens, phone, etc, so should I be taking them off when doing such? anyways please let me know what you guys think!
