Comet P40 Oil Cup overflowing - Warranty?

Comet P40 Oil Cup overflowing - Warranty?

I purchased a new Honda GX200 / Comet P40 recently. Less than 20 hours of use probably so far. When I was doing my jobs today, I noticed that the oil cup was overflowing. Didn't seem milky or anything. I get home and the whole skid is covered. The oil in the cup is a grayish color, not golden.

Never had any issues on the job. Set the pressures to 225 - 250 psi ( a turn or so from full tight on the regulator). Never off trigger for more than a minute or two.

1 inch suction line. 3/4 to reel. 3/4 bypass line. Using a proportioner, all 1 inch.

When I got the new reel, I even switched the outlet to 1 inch hose.

The photos show that the oil seems to have risen and darkened in color since purchasing. Oil isn't milky, but does seem slimy. Came from MPWSR with pump oil at 1/4 full in oil cup. Its now 3/4 full.

Aside from the oil overflowing, its been absolutely great to have. Worked totally fine today, despite puking its guts.

Hot Water Pressure Washer No Ignition

Purchased a Magnum 4000 Gold with a broken pump about a month ago. Replaced the pump with a GP EZ4040G. Cold side of the washer works great.

Issue is I get only the burner fan. Fan is on as soon as I turn the burner switch on. I don't get any ignition, heat, smoke.
This is my first hot water unit and I don't know much about the burners. Relying on AI and 15 year old Youtube videos.

I have tried turning the burner on with the throttle at 100% and a 15` nozzle installed. PSI is around 3500. No ignition at all, only fan. Has the fuel that came in the tank. Looks like Red offroad diesel to me.

Edit: I have adjusted the temp gauge in various settings. Its not "Off".

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Manual to Electric Reel

Has anyone converted a manual reel to electric?

I have multiple Hannay electric reels currently. I want to buy a new reel that has a 3/4 or 1" manifold. (I feel like 1/2" is starving my Comet P40.) My plan is to buy a new Hannay manual reel and steal the motor, chain, gear, solenoid from the electric reel I have. Save $400 ish.

Anyone done this? Am I overlooking something?

Context:

I did a bucket test with my P40 and only got 7.5gpm.

200ft 1/2 hose

1/2 reel

open ball valve / Waterboss 750 for testing.

1 inch suction

1 inch proportioner

3/4 from pump to reel.

The weak spot is the hose and reel. Thinking of spending a grand to get a new reel and some 5/8 hose.

Waterboss spray pattern

My 1/2 waterboss spray pattern doesn't seem as conical as I've seen others online. Video shows my Waterboss 750 vs the blue GP wash down gun. Both powered by the comet p40, 200 ft of 1/2 hose, both with 3/8 quick connect. I'll also put a video of the guns on my 12v. As well as a photo of the waterboss from Powerful Improvements on YT.

It's splitting hairs really, but my spray pattern just seems a little off, and I don't believe these have any adjustments like the GP wash down guns.

Anybody running dual 12v pumps

So, I've had the misfortune of being sick for the last week. That has given me some spare time however. I got to thinking that I had a spare Remco 7gpm 60psi pump, to add to my Remco 7gpm 100psi. I picked up a 80 to 100 psi well pump pressure switch.

Before I rewired my pumps to run off of one pressure switch, I wanted a sanity check.

My "issue" is the range of the single 100psi pump. Hitting roof leaks with wind, on the ground, can be a challenge at times. Also, my 12v reel is only 1/2 swivel / manifold. Hose is 200ft of 1/2. Basically I'd be trying to use 1/2" plumbing to push 10 to 12 GPM.

Trying to keep the post short, I can provide additional info. But I figured this was enough for y'all to tell me I'm stupid or not.

Waterboss gun trigger

I don't have a local business to go check. So before I buy online, can someone tell me?

Is the waterboss 750 gun trigger pretty easy pull?

More like the suttner 2305 which is super easy pull. Or more like the red/blue wash down guns? Which aren't bad, but have more potential to fatigue after a long day.

Mostly I want to try a new gun because I like buying tools, but wanted to see what y'all thought first.

A cool YouTube video for anyone who does that, would be to do a trigger pull comparison using a trigger pull gauge.

Harbor freight 4gpm

So, I have been recommending the harbor freight 4gpm. I've used one for about 4 years on and off. I'm pretty sure u/imnumber1 pointed out that HF started putting cheap Chinese pumps on these, rather than the AR pumps. I used my warranty on one in March of this year and it came with the AR pump and a decent hose.

That washer had very little use from March until this week, under 10 hours. It got water in the cylinder during that time. It lives on my trailer, uncovered. I changed the oil and thought it was a fluke. I went to fire it up the other day and water was in the cylinder again. Not the oil, not the fuel, the cylinder. The engine was hydro locked.

I returned that one for a new one, and to be honest I had to drive 45 minutes to find one, the 4 stores local to me had none. This new one has the Chinese pump and the stiff, slick hose.

All this to say, I'm not sure if recommend them anymore. For $750 + $300 warranty it's still probably the best financial deal, but I'm not sure it's worth the fuss of returning a poorly manufactured washer.

Anybody use the XJet with a P40

I've got the red/blue General soft wash gun. M5 Twist. Jrods.

Would there be a noticeable difference in "slap" with the XJet? Not for applying chems via the XJet. Just using the XJet as a nozzle.

Anyone running 1/2 quick connects

Anyone find a noticable performance boost in 1/2 QC vs 3/8 QC?

I'd probably just use them on my comet p40. Currently using a 1/2 manifold hose reel. 200ft of 1/2 AG hose. Which I know is a restriction in and of itself. Not to mention 1/2 QCs are like $15-$20 a piece for quality ones.
