D Line Extension Bike Map
With the new D line stations opening up and the Metro Bike Share docks at the stations, I thought it would be helpful for those exploring the new area or wanting to use the new stations to better understand how to safely move around. The roads outside most of the stations are very bike-hostile, but you don't have to go too far to find less bad routes. I find most mapping apps will try to get you killed on Wilshire, Pico, or La Cienega, so I hope this helps people better plan and navigate their city
🌳The Backbone of the North/South between La Cienega D and Culver City E is Bedford. I have toyed with the idea of advocating for the creation of the Bedford Street Greenway. A low-traffic neighborhood greenway but even without those enhancements its still the safest route I have found, and very popular.
🚇My closest station is at Wilshire and La Cienega, and so this map is biased towards the information that I know as both a commuter and a recreational rider.
🚴I am not starting with what local governments deem bike routes, but rather my experience as a local.
✉️Let me know if you have any feedback. I am happy to add information, especially from the other two D stations that I am less familiar with.
