First, I've been depressed ever since I can remember. I've had plenty of attempts, hospitalizations, rehab, etc. My biological mom is super abusive, so I left and cut contact with her when I was 13, and moved in with my dad and stepmum full-time.

My parents (dad and stepmum) are great people, but they have very different looks and opinions on things like politics, mental health, ethnic groups, the healthcare system, etc. They don't understand depression or anxiety or how it all works. I don't even completely understand, but they don't understand at all !! They say things that really, really hurt me and pretend like it never happened. They tell me that I need to open up to them more, but that just makes them upset, and I end up getting in trouble in the end. (There is a lot more to this whole story, but that would take forever to write out ..)

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I'm constantly walking on eggshells. I've been planning to move out the day I turn 18 (yes, I have a plan, no, I am not sharing that plan because it is irrelevant), but 2 days ago, it was my 16th birthday, and they got me a freaking kitten.

Now I feel terrible and don't know what to do. I am so stuck, please, any advice helps.
