Issues and Errors with RZ Color Drum

So, I ordered a used blue RZ drum (for my RZ 220 ui) on eBay and it came with some oils around the actual drum and the ink had clearly separated in the canister. From what I could read I could try to clean up the oil/ink that I could and put in new ink an give it a go.

I used simple green to clean up what I could of the ink/oil and then soaked the screen (still all attached) with rags in a box soaked in simple green for a couple of hours. After that I gently wiped it down and gave a it a few hours to dry off.

I decided to change the shade of blue with that to Cornflower because, well, why not. I'm okay with the window where the color may need to work on purging and will use it to my artistic advantage.

When I did the reset for the color and tested out the drum I couldn't get a master to stick to it. The machine didn't pull an error code with the drum at all. I read to try running 887 to get more ink out. I ran that twice and then got an code "D-04-513" (ink overflow in drum). I tried 888 to see if that could help, but no luck and masters still wont stick.

Any advice on the next steps I should take? I should note that the machine was sitting for a few years and I haven't gotten the original black drum to work either.

TLDR List:

  • Used Color Drum
  • Ink separated - oil in case
  • cleaned with Simple Green
  • Soaked outside of mesh with Simple Green
  • Put in new ink
  • Master won't stick to drum
  • Ran 887 to ink drum x2
  • Recieved "D-04-513" ink overflow
  • Tried 888
  • Masters still wont stick
  • Help please!!
