I read this years ago, and am rereading it now.

I could’ve sworn that the Sinbad/Morrel’s daughter sequence was a lot longer. I thought I remembered him sending her to a garden/a gazebo to wait somewhere, then some other stuff happening, THEN the red purse episode.

I’m reading what says is the Penguin unabridged version.
