been wanting to get a toad or two for a while, and i was under the impression that it was ok to catch toadlets from the wild and keep them... i've learned that may not be a good idea for multiple reasons lol.

there's a lot of american toadlets in the suburb i'm living in this summer, and i occasionally pick them up and pet them a bit and put them away from the sidewalk or garage i find them in, so i was originally planning to catch 1 or 2 and keep them once i move in to my apartment. i've heard a lot of conflicting information about whether or not they are alright to catch and keep long-term and adjust well and quick to captivity. kinda confused on this regard.

that being said, if wild caught is not ok, what's a responsible and ethical site or place i can get toads? i'm interested in the north american species, especially american, canadian, or great plains toads, since they're the three native to my state. fowler, woodhouse

i thought it'd be relatively easy to find captive bred toads for sale but apparently they're difficult to breed so they're not as common. i'm located in the twin cities area of minnesota if that helps. my living situation is a bit transient and probably will be for at least a few more months, but i'll be able to take care of the toad(s) for their whole lifespan. thank you
