I was admitted to UTM Social Sciences and I’m planning to major in Political Science and Sociology after first year.
These are the courses I’ve chosen so far:

I’m still not completely sure about my schedule, so I’d really appreciate any advice.
Do these courses make sense for someone planning to major in Political Science and Sociology?
Am I meeting the first-year requirements correctly?
Would you recommend replacing any of these with easier or more useful courses?

I’m starting Social Sciences at UTM this fall. We have to choose our courses next month, and I’m honestly a bit lost.
Right now I’m planning to do a Political Science major. I’m also thinking about a Sociology major, but I’m not 100% sure yet. If you have other program recommendations that go well with Political Science, I’d love to hear them.
I know there are a few required courses if I want to get into Political Science, and sociology but I don’t really know how I should build my schedule.
Which courses should I take in first year? Which ones should I take in fall vs winter? How should I choose my lectures and tutorials? Is there anything I should avoid or any professors you recommend?
I’d really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this. Thank you!

I’m starting at UTM in fall 2026 and they gave me a JOINid to track my application n stuff. But do we also have to make a separate school account later on? From what I know the uni contacts us again for setting up our school acc but idk 😭 I’m new to all this uni stuff so if anyone knows pls help

Hi everyone,

I received and accepted my offer to the UTM for Social Sciences (first year) around February/March. So far, I have only received a welcome email confirming my acceptance, and nothing else. I am not sure who to contact, so I thought I would ask here.

I am planning to apply for OSAP, but applications are not open yet. For now, am I required to make any payments, or when do tuition payments usually start?

I have not activated my official university account yet—I have only been using the application portal. Will the university contact me about setting up my account, or do I need to do it myself?

Also, I will be out of the country in June and returning on September 1. When should I get my student card?

I would really appreciate any guidance. Thank you!
