I have been jamming on the following 2 youtube videos one

I did both for an hour or so each and I am not sure if its related to my taste in music but:

Number 1: looks much easier for me to play as far as rhythm etc. I also enjoy it more

Number 2: seems a bit more difficult-not sure whether it is because it is slow or whether its more bluesy and I usually dont listen to blues- it sounds more clumsy when i do stuff on it.

Number 1: Changes bertween chords seem much mroe natural when I do them ans it kinda flows better

Number 2: Changes are a bit more clumsy and sometimes it doesnt sound as good.

If you try lsitening to both thingss, do you think that the things im saying make sense?
Can it be related to my taste of music and my feeling towards blues?
Is it all in my head?

Also another question:
I am trying to make sense of lets say two A minor shapes and connect them- is my process kinda in the right direction- I play around the scale and try to do different things:

- play triads around it,

- just try to end my phrase on the next chord (not necessarily playing a triad)

- for example in Aminor scale I practice going up to A from G so i remember that its one whole step away etc

I am not following necessarily one route each time- i am experimenting while trying to learn the scale at the same time- is that helpful or i should focus on one thing first

Do you have Any other advice on how else i can practice would be helpful.

So i found out that there are some fingerpicking patterns that you can use on folk songs

The song is in 4/4 but i cant make a pattern on top of my head. I would appreciate ideas so i can get my ear accustomed

I have been playhing baritone uke for 4 years -it has DGBE strings of the guiar-just naylon- I have beel earning music theory on my own and I try to understand what happens in different songs and I know about chords, intervals etc. I swtiched to guitar two months ago and I decided to get a few guiatr lessons but its not going very well- idk if its becuase of the teacher - but the problem is the following- took two lessons with the same teacher- the first we met I explained him what do I want :

I want to fingerpick more and basically I My aim is to understand more of what happens on the fretboard and be able to use the fretboard freely so i can for example improvise and overall sound good- I am not trying to be professional. I understand I am not starting from the beginning and I do not know everything- in my opinion I have a certain basis that make me understand things better than lets say a beginner- I am not sure If i would call myself an intermediate cause I know some random things which I am not sure I can use but yes- not starting from zero at this point. I think the teacher realized that- cause he asked me a few things - I know my shapes-pentatonic, major, minor, triads.( I still have a lot of work on them on the guitar cause there are two extra strings than the baritone uke but yeah- at least I know the letters lets say and I am kiiinda know what I am doing). So we had two lessons- the first one we got to know each other and I felt like he was kinda confused cause it seems he rarely got people like me- he had students that he thought from the beginning using note etc ( he wasnt a fan of tabs) . However I told him that I dont want to focus on notes and I am do not have the money/tiem to focus 100 % on music. (I am practicing a lot right now but my practice I feel like it can be more focused and useful - cause sometimes im just wasting my time with stupid things.) I told him I am more interested of someone giving me a direction of how to practice usefully and give me ideas on what to focus more- and i was willing to go two-three times a month for a while (of course practicing on my own separately)

And he said those were very difficult songs especially the third one- the pattern was very difficult

I am not saying I am doing them even in full speed yet- I am trying around 0:60-0:70 speed and of course its not perfect but I am trying - I am also trying to think about the chords and what shapes I am holding etc.

But it seems too much for him to say that - cause travis fingerpicking is not very hard I think- at least for me right now- again- i am not saying I am using the correct fingers on the right hand each time- but it works and there is a sound (good enough for an amateur I guess)

So the first lessons got me kiiinda discouraged. I still went to anotehr lesson- which was even worse cause I thought he would prepare something like an easier song lets say. But he didnt- which I guess- whatever- however he still was very negative about it all - how I should start from zero- but apparently I do not want to (he didnt say it like that - but he seemed that he didnt have any ideas or cared what to do with me)

First my question is are thsoe three songs so hard ? I dont want to do them perfectly - I am just using them as means to understand chord shapes and overall guitar playing? Is this wrong?

Second question- I think I am going to start with easier songs on the guitar - to learn about rhythm and maybe other things so what would you recomend? It doesnt have to be nursery rhymes- but something easy- maybe like using one or two strings at this point

I cant understand how each D major chord shape is part of a shape ? Are we talking about the D major scale? And which are the shapes? I just cant see it- for example as part of CAGED- looking at this i cant understand which shape are we talking about

Why should I have to know this info? How is this useful?

So i have playing baritone ukulele for around 4 years - I have been pretty consistent with it and wanna change to acoustic guitar. However I want to take a few lessons. Since I have never been to lessons before I wanna make the most of them so what would you advice me to focus on on my level ( I dont wanna spend money on more than 3 or 4 lessons)

The thing im familiar are intervals , triads, minor , major scales, CAGED shapes, pentatonics (a little bit less than everything else), travis fingerpicking, this is mostly on the baritone uke which is missing the low E and A strings- im getting accustomed to them on the guitar now.
Also I started recently practicing some dyads on the guitar- which made me learn more about chord shapes overall

Started doing some Travis fingerpicking which is getting easier every day.

What I am interested in the moment is fingerpicking on songs like this one for example >

What I feel im struggling with for fingerpicking especially:

1. timing - its not that I suck at timing, its just difficult to get looking at the tab
2. I cant quite distinguish when is the chord change (especially during a fast song)- does it start on the root note, what is happening exactly there
3. what happens with the rhythm etc,
4. guitar shapes which are much harder than baritone ukulele shapes.
5. recognizing the shapes when I see them on the guitar tabs - i know a two of three now , im sure this would become better once I continue playing

I wanna focus on some of the above things however what sucks is that i cannot put into words what I feel I am missing (especailly the timing part) Is the teacher going to be useful just to point me into a better direction maybe? I am sure I have thousands of bad habits but I just wanna actually learn to play more insrtead of fixing them.

So my 4 main questions summarized

1. What can i focus on at this point?
2. Should I have some agenda before going to the lesson so I can tell the teacher what I want to achieve?
3. How is the teacher gonna know what level I am at
4. Do you think a music theory lesson would be better? Or a guitar lesson?
5. I wanna learn maybe more about voice leading and harmonies- would it be dumb If i tell the teacher to focus on that?

Is this song considered diatonic if it's in a mode? What would be our approach to analyze it? Seems like it might be in C# Phrygian mode as after playing it all the notes fit. Is that right? Also just by looking at the chords what should be my thought process before knowing it's in a mode- I see C#m which is probably my key, after that I will see that there is C# - is it correct to think that maybe C# is borrowed? Am i somehow able to conclude that it might be in a mode just cause of all the combinations of chords?
