New Orleans German group's new home

The "Stammtisch" at Bratz Y'all (weekly German conversation group) has a new home: Parleaux Beer Lab in the Bywater. Parleaux has a really lovely beer garden, great beer, and often, pop-up pizza! Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm. Beginners welcome; just no English at the table, please.

Perspective: Data Center vs New Orleans

Astute comment from NOLA.com:

Michael Fermanis • 1d

The META Al data center is a $50 billion dollar investment.
And will generate 1000 or more construction jobs - for about 3-4 years. Then it will employ maybe 100 persons.
And it will pay no taxes for decades. Not an economic plus, in my opinion.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans area provides about 1/4 of all jobs, state taxes, and development for the entire state. And it does it year after year after year. If it weren't for New Orleans, Louisiana would just be Mississippi.

I know that this would be highly unlikely as a white person speaking a language not associated with recent immigrants, but I am curious about the law. Technically, if I were in public speaking German, and an ICE agent said they thought I was an illegal visa-overstay immigrant from Germany, and my American passport and birth certificate were at home (as they usually are)— could they legally arrest me?
