Pedal Electric battery died 14 months after purchase

Avoid Pedal Electric and choose a brand that stands by their products.

My Pedal Electric H/T was shipped directly to a local bike shop for assembly, and delivered there June 13, 2025. Less than 14 months later, on August 4, 2026, the bike shut off and died under me while riding and would not turn back on. I immediately contacted Pedal Electric and told them the battery had died. It was obvious to me that the battery was the problem as the battery would not charge, the status indicator lights wouldn't come on, it is totally unresponsive. 13 emails, a video call, bike disassembly, voltage readings, etc. later, they tell me by battery is dead (thanks), and that since they only warrant for 12 months, it's on me to purchase a replacement.

They eventually offered a 40% discount, but that still makes this a ~$500 cost due to being 7 weeks past warranty cut off. I was, quite rudely, told that I could be to blame for the problem, as they don't know how I treat it. For the record, I ride the bike on the paved streets of Chicago, it is stored in a climate controlled enclosed garage every night, and the battery is charged sparingly in my apartment only as needed. I take very good care of it.

If you're going to spend $2k+ on an electric bike, I highly recommend you shop elsewhere. This will be my last Pedal Electric.

edit: nevermind, they pulled the discount after seeing my post.
