Toddler toenail fungus?
I have flagged my 2.5 year old son’s toenails for our pediatrician for 2 years. Both big toe nails are thick and yellow and I’ve never had to cut them…. The doc keeps telling us to wait and see and, if anything, put petroleum jelly on them.
They seem to only have gotten worse. Our son does not complain of any pain or bother with them.
Any ideas?? What do you think it is and what’s the best course of treatment?
(More info: a year ago I decided to take him to a dermatologist and they said — can’t do anything wait and see. About six months ago I took him to see a podiatrist and they took nail clippings. We never got the results and when I called they said the clippings got lost in the mail…. I can’t believe it. So now we’re waiting for them to grow enough for more clippings.)
