which distro for my mother (currently lubuntu)

hi,

my mother (70+) has an old Toshiba laptop which was not supporting windows anymore, so I set her up with Lubuntu 1 year ago

It works most of the time fine, but still some things are too complicated and hard to manage in Lubuntu for her.

What is another easy distro that will a) work well on an old laptop, and b) gives a simple windows-like experience. 90% of the time it's about going in the internet to check mails or do online banking

thanks!

recommendations for consistent character and scene art?

hi all,

I am trying to build a simple adventure using ai for the art as I am no designer

I am struggling to build consistent artwork for scenes, items and characters

right now my workflow is to create a full scene and then to extract the objects and replace with the continuation of the background (e.g. a bottle someone picks up from a table to disappear).

characters I do separate by giving the scene , but no matter which tool I use, they always look very different in style, proportions don't match etc

which tools and flows are you using for this?

thanks

niri - downsides for gaming (with HDR)?

hi all,

I am still on my quest to find the best window manager for my setup with nvidia 4080 around work / productivity and gaming

now that i prefer hyprland over KDE, i am thinking to give niri a try, as i feel it might have some more benefits in the way it tiles for me

as I understand, it does not support HDR but I can use gamescope

using gamescope means, that I cannot "alt-tab" out of game, is that correct?

what else would there be to consider?

thanks a lot
